Frequently asked questions

Yes—please discuss any anxiety with our team when booking. Many procedures can be performed using local anaesthetic to numb the area. Sedation or general anaesthesia requires assessment and advance arrangements, and may not be available or necessary for every procedure. Our team will explain the options suitable for you.

Your comfort is important to us. Local anaesthetic is commonly used to numb the treatment area, although you may feel a brief sting, pressure or some discomfort. Our team will explain what to expect and support you throughout. Please tell us if you feel pain so we can assess and manage it.

Some medications may need to be adjusted before your procedure, particularly blood thinners or diabetes medicines if fasting is required. Please provide a complete list of your medicines and supplements when booking. Our team will give you personalised instructions, including when to restart any medication that is paused. Do not stop or change prescribed medication without medical advice.

The time depends on the type and complexity of your procedure. Some image-guided injections take around 15–30 minutes, including preparation, while other procedures take longer. Your appointment may also include observation afterwards. Our team will explain how much time to allow when you book.

You may need to stay for observation so our team can check that you are recovering safely. This may be brief or last several hours, depending on the procedure and medication used. Before you leave, we’ll provide aftercare instructions and advice about driving and activity. If you receive sedation, arrange for a responsible adult to take you home and follow the driving restrictions provided.
