Frequently asked questions
Bookings
Do I need a referral?
A valid referral is generally required for Medicare-rebatable and privately funded imaging. Some services may be available without one. Contact our team to confirm the requirements for your examination.
How do I book?
You can book through our website or call your preferred clinic. Your referring practitioner can also send an e-referral. Have your referral ready so we can arrange the appropriate examination.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Same-day and next-day appointments are available for many services, subject to availability and preparation requirements. Contact our team to check the earliest appointment.
During your scan
Will my scan hurt?
Most routine scans are painless, although positioning or pressure on a tender area may cause discomfort. If you need an injection, you may feel a brief sting. Please tell our team if you are uncomfortable or anxious so we can support you.
How long will it take?
Timing depends on your examination. Routine X-rays usually take less than 15 minutes, while MRI scans may take 15–60 minutes or longer. Other scans and procedures vary. We’ll explain how much time to allow, including preparation and any observation afterwards.
Can I bring someone with me?
Yes, you’re welcome to bring a family member, friend or carer for support. Whether they can enter the scan room depends on the examination and safety requirements.
Results
When will I get my results?
Our radiologists aim to provide timely reports. The timeframe depends on your examination, and urgent findings are communicated directly to your referrer. Ask our team when your report is expected.
How will I get my scan results?
Your radiologist’s report is sent directly to your referring practitioner. Arrange a follow-up to discuss the findings. If you would like access to your images, ask our team about the available options.
Billing
Which services are Bulk Billed?
Most of our diagnostic imaging services are 100% Medicare bulk-billed, including ultrasound and National Lung Cancer Screening Program scans for eligible patients. Eligibility depends on your examination and referral. Some services may attract an out-of-pocket fee, which we’ll explain before your appointment.
